Why Bible Should Be in Sign Language?

Source: Christianity Today

I continually love reading the Bible so much and it is texted. But how about Deaf people? Can Deaf people read Bible? By what?

Alright, as a Deaf Christian, I prefer to be myself that I have abilities but I'm strongly sure about Deaf people have various backgrounds and experiences, like sign language, reading lips, or both as well. Deaf people aren't as same as hearing people. Hearing people depend on their ears to hear sounds and Deaf people depend on their eyes to see the visualization. Based on my experiences, I didn't grow up in a Deaf community in my life except by studying at a Deaf school using reading lips. I grow up in most hearing communities. My family is hearing, and I am the only one. I prefer to read texted Bible to a signed Bible because it makes me easier to understand God's words. Just like what hearing people do. But, when I attend church and Bible study, I need an interpreter and/ or a captioner/ typist. I usually pray by sign language or by reading lips, depending on how I feel.

Deaf education is inequality, and it can be an excuse for why Deaf people need a signed Bible. Deaf people are born to be a native sign language as their mother tongue. God has given a gift to Deaf people by having the most beautiful language in the world, sign language. It means, He knows sign language and He is a polyglot. By sign language, Deaf people can feel God's presence, when they read a signed Bible, or they pray by sign language.

Praise God, we have a signed translation Bible that is organized by some organizations, such as the Deaf Bible Society and Deaf Way Bible (I don't know what Deaf Way is). Deaf Bible Society has been working for translating a texted Bible into over 10 sign languages around the world. Sign language has more than 300 sign languages in the world. There are still many Deaf Christian communities has its program for helping faith growth accessible, where some take to collab with hearing Christian communities. That's such a beautiful collaboration between Deaf and hearing Christian communities.

If a church has a Bible study separated into three classes, (kids, teens, and adults), I think should be the fourth class, Deaf Bible study (Deaf men club and Deaf women club). It will work! We need Deaf pastors to lead and serve this community because of the same experiences and backgrounds.

We are on the same mission to be the glory of Jesus Christ neither sign language nor verbal language and we are the same of faith and children of God.

"So, in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith. for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Galatians 3: 26-29.

The Idea of Feminism In the Church

A veiled woman lighting up a candle in the Orthodox Church, source: Adobe Stock Roman Catholic Pope Francis appeared a 60-minute on CBS's live-streaming interview with a female reporter, Norah O'Donnell. She was curious in a question towards on him,  " I'm curious, for a little girl growing up Catholic today, will she ever have the opportunity to be a deacon and participate as a clergy member in the church ?" Pope Francis simply, saying, " No ." O'Donnell seemed to trying to push on him about her idea of the progressive and reformation in the Catholic Church. But, thanks God, Pope was strong defending his faith.  This is a 60-minute interview has opened that in fact the pressure of the church reformation has been increasingly happening today. We heard that some churches trying to allow its LGBTQ movement within church life, like the Unitarian church. And, I think some churches have accepted the female ordination, but usually it is Protestant church b

Women, Modesty, and Veiling

(Veiling of women in different era, source: Diaqnoz.Az) " I am Orthodox and I do not agree with veiling " on a comment that recorded on Instagram while posting a reel of female Orthodox veiled at a church and monastery.  I am Orthodox and I do agree with veiling . So, why? The first place, that people may think that we are "sexist" or "pervert" as controlling on female clothing appearances. That's possible because we live in a modern era which is the female rights are more honourable and important in its society. Many girls are independent raised well and having same chances of working at secularism typically careers. But, as Orthodox Christians, who we know that we are about 2.000 years living to equip our Christ looks like in the modern era, which that has been fallen down, especially rising up feminist's movement. The feminism is mainly different from what women have fought for equality gender as surely their aim is to dominate and create the &q

The Pascha, Life Bond, and SO SPECIAL! Orthodox Christianity!

Holy Fire in Jerusalem We typically celebrate the Easter - however that the Orthodox people generally saying that's Pascha - but I felt like that was so special that I celebrated the Pascha in a different Christianity tradition which was unfamiliar to myself, being to live in the country who well-known about Western Christianity. We celebrate the Pascha on a different calendar, it is Julian Calendar so many people wonder that why we are being late celebrate the Pascha and even the Christmas, a week late (between 12-13 days on Julian and Gregorian calendars) from the Western Christians. But, in certain times in history, we celebrate on the same date like 2017 we celebrate the Pascha together with Roman Catholics and it will be happening next year! The Eastern Orthodox is the holy and first church to just celebrated a blessed holy week in last week! Unfortunately, I was unlucky in that schedule as I had a five-day training during the holy week schedule, that caused I had to miss mult
